ABOUT US

EST. 2016 in my bedroom
I have always loved jewelry growing up, but I had more of a passion for clothing and the fashion industry. My number one goal was to design and own a clothing line. I started off selling clothes on my depop, vintage items or things I bought at whole sale price. Then I went through a period of insecurity, disliking my own body, I never felt like most clothes fit me properly and my love for fashion dissipated a little (I still love it though! and hope to design a few pieces for MJ). And then I had this bright idea, to start making and selling. My dad, an entrepreneur himself, supported my idea and decided to invest £30 into my shop ! I experimented here and there with different materials to see which would be the best quality at an affordable price (for me & you potential customer). I am a creative person with A LOT of ideas which tends to overwhelm me sometimes. But I started off simple, nothing crazy. I bought some earring hooks, jump rings and some rose quartz gemstone charms. One of my first MJ piece were a simple pair of silver rose quartz heart earrings, which were quite popular back then haha. By then I had decided on the name ‘Machi Jewelry’ because machi is part of my name ‘Somachi’ (creative huh?). The creation of my logo was inspired by my interest in sacred geometry at the time and wanted to incorporate shapes into my logo. I wanted the machi jewelry logo to be well recognised like the Coke or Channel logo. I created my logo on 2 different photo editing apps on my phone. The rainbow signifies something I thought I could never attain which is joy and happiness, like the kind most of us had as children. My view of the world wasn’t the best at the time, but whenever I look at the logo, its hard to think negatively. My goal is to bring my customers real value from the packaging, to the Jewelry itself and to hopefully start a positive self-loving community of deliberate creators. I would like to thank Abraham Hicks, Gary Vee & all my customers who have encouraged and given me the confidence to persist, create and believe that I can succeed ! A proud Black owned business :D
